Hello friends,

Once again, I find myself writing to you from an airport, thinking and praying for you as I wait to board the next flight.

This month as we pray for education, I’m so thankful that I live in a country where women and girls can choose to go to school. In many of the countries where Women of Hope is broadcast, women do not have the freedom to choose, or the resources to afford, an education.

Today, may we come to the Lord with broken hearts for those who are struggling to obtain an education so that they will be better able to understand the world around them, to care for their families, and to contribute to the life and leadership of their communities. Acquiring knowledge is a very good thing, but let’s remember that we reach our full potential only when it is coupled with wisdom and God’s direction. As the Bible tells us, “Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be still wiser; teach a righteous man, and he will increase in learning” (Prov. 9:9).

We can learn much from Jesus and his life. He calls us not only to live for him but also to learn from him: “Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls” (Matt. 11:29). His Word gives us guidance and truth to persevere in times when we want to quit. It gives us hope when we are hopeless and strengthens our faith when we fail.

My friends, may we believe today that God sees and hears our prayers and will bring hope to those who are seeking to learn more and more about God’s goodness and grace for their lives. May you and I continue to grow in our knowledge of the love of Christ which guides our lives (2 Tim. 3:16-17).
